If any of you know me then you’re aware of my crafting shortcomings. I really can’t paint, draw, cook, sew or (goodness forbid) scrapbook. Sorry to all you scrap-bookers out there but it is pure torture to me! Anyways, I love the concept of DIY’s, but was always too afraid to try until…I decided to embellish my own sweatshirt. I think the embellished sweatshirt trend is wonderful (what is better than comfort & sequins?), but I was having trouble finding a sweatshirt that I liked within my price range. (I’m sure there are tons of adorable ones for $50+, but really, it’s a sweatshirt), so I figured I would make my own. Over the holidays my mom, sisters & I picked up basic crew necks at H&M and some supplies from Michaels Crafts to create our sweatshirts. They were beyond easy….
We each laid out our gems (a few different times) before we glued. Make sure you put something (piece of cardboard works well) inside the sweatshirt when gluing. I almost glued mine together! Depending on the type of glue it will take 18-24 hours to fully dry. Ours took 24 and then it recommended 7-10 days before actually washing it. I just washed my sweatshirt yesterday on cold & delicate and it is still in tact!
Have a great weekend!
