If any of you read my guest post on Elizabeth’s blog a few weeks ago then you are aware of the reasoning behind my blog’s name. If you didn’t read that post – this will explain it all.
Today is March 5, 2014. Exactly one year ago today I lost one of the most important people in my life – my Grandma Marty.
Lucky for me, she only had 6 grandchildren so I got to spend a good amount of time with her. We were very close and I could tell her anything. She got to hear about boyfriends, best friends, breakups, vacations, sports teams, failures, successes…everything. I remember being attached to her at an early age. She would fly in from Florida (even though she was deathly afraid of flying) and visit us each summer. I remember barely being able to contain my excitement when she arrived and crying when she had to leave. After my step-grandpa died she moved to Ohio and lived across the street from us. My siblings and I went over to visit all the time; she came to our sporting events and met all our friends. We loved having her so close.
She was an amazing woman in so many ways. She even contributed to my love of fashion. When my friend Corinne and I were 12 she helped teach us to how to sew our own skirts. She let us choose our fabrics & patterns and taught us how to pin & cut the fabric. She was the type of grandma who always had full candy jars & ate ice cream every single day.
When I began my blog in July I spent about 2 weeks trying to decide on a name. I wanted the name to have special meaning for me; not just be a combination of some cute fashion related words. After a few days of thinking I decided that I wanted to commemorate my grandma somehow; the name needed to simple but memorable. I finally chose to take her last name (Cassidy) with Lou because my mom always called her “Martha Lou.”
I am so happy I chose the name Cassidy Lou. The blog is a constant positive reminder of my grandma and I love that.
Thank you for reading & have a great day.

That’s a great story and a lovely way to keep your grandmother in your thoughts! At first I thought that was your name, until I checked your “about me” page. Unfortunately, my blog name is my actual name…slightly less interesting haha
