Last week I admitted to spending nearly my entire August budget on one item – a real leather skirt from Banana Republic. Normally the skirt costs $225, but with my employee discount it came to $112.5 + tax, which is still way more than I would normally spend on a skirt. I rationalized it because I have a faux leather skirt from Forever 21 that I wear ALL the time – see below…
But now I’m looking at my lack of August budget and wondering if it was worth it. While perusing Forever 21 yesterday I found an almost identical faux leather skirt, and I plan on ordering it just to compare the two. It would save me almost $100! On the other hand though, $115 is still an amazing deal for a REAL leather skirt! I’m torn, and I need your advice in the comments below – what should I do?

it looks like the BR one fits a little differently than the F21 one, so that might be a deciding factor too! do you feel like you would style the BR one *so* differently from the way you style the faux one you already have to justify it? if you’re just looking for a pleated alternative, the F21 one might be better, but if you’re aiming for more long-lasting staple pieces you know you’ll love and wear for years, the BR one looks worth the money (especially with the discount you scored!).
I own the BR one, so I’m in the splurge camp! You will have it for years as it isn’t too trendy a style. Good luck with your decision!
