I’ve been meaning to write this post since the summer, but it finally came to fruition the week of Thanksgiving (talk about procrastination).
Since the temperatures have dropped considerably (at least in the Midwest) I find myself seeing a lot less butt cheeks than in the summer months. THANK GOODNESS. It drove me a little bit crazy this summer with the whole high waisted short trend because people seemed to get confused. I think their reasoning was something along the lines of “oh my shorts should stay the same length as they were before, but now I will hike them up to my boobs, give myself both a front + back wedgie and then show the world my cheeks…whether they want to see them or not. (I’m the latter…in case you couldn’t tell).
High waisted shorts are very rarely flattering (I won’t say never because there are always exceptions). But, on the average American female ages of 15+…high waisted shorts aren’t doing anything for your figure.
Over the summer I decided I would try a pair on…just for shits + giggles. You know what happened? I looked way heavier + had the world’s biggest wedgie. Nope. Nope. Nope.
I actually had a revelation about shorts in general this summer (you can read that here).
Once September rolled around I figured that the exposed butt cheeks would slowly start to die off, I mean who wants to go to class with a male professor (roughly the age of your father) wearing booty shorts? The answer to that question – way more people than I expected.
I found myself walking behind a girl about my age wearing high waisted shorts and unfortunately saw WAY more than I wanted to heading to class.
Finally, just as the weather became too cold, Halloween rolled around…and I think you know what that means…return of the booty shorts. (I’ll cut them a little bit of slack this time, just because it’s a holiday and I’m nice.)
Moral(s) of today’s blog post:
1.) I don’t want to see your butt cheeks
2.) Wear clothes that flatter your body type
3.) Think before you walk up the stairs
Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Hhaha I totally agree with you, they don’t do much for the figure at all. Not going to lie, this past Summer I was like I NEED to get on this trend. Yep, bought a pair of black high wasted jean cut of shorts and then they never saw the light of day. (still shoved in my closet somewhere..) It’s a bummer because I really like the whole “grunge” trend but I’m hoping the high wasted shorts trend sort of goes away.. lol

Haha I’m with you – hopefully they’ll be gone by next summer!
I couldn’t agree more! The high-waisted shorts trend can be over now. K thanks.
You look fabulous as always–I love those shoes!
Yes please. At least it’s winter now haha
haha I love it. I agree – there is nothing classy about bootie hanging out of your shorts. Love this outfit! I am obsessed with maroon right now so I love that skirt and I think the leather jacket is the icing on the cake! Have a good Thanksgiving!!
