With a ton of travel and multiple jobs this year, it feels as if I’m constantly meeting new people. Like most, I strive to make a good first impression, because it is way easier to have someone like you right away than to change their opinion of you (at least I think). I know I am guilty of having a bad first impression of someone that was totally wrong. I figured today I would share 3 ways to make a great first impression:
1.) Have a solid handshake and look someone in the eye when you meet them. I find that some people give me flimsy handshakes because I’m a woman and it drives me NUTS. I will give you a real handshake and I expect one in return.
2.) Listen more than you speak – people want to be heard (we all know this), so try to learn more about them at first.
3.) If you can, leave something behind so they don’t forget you. Business cards are a great option – even if you are still in school, or don’t have business cards from your job, you can still design your own. MOO is a place I have used before and they have great designs.
So there you have it, 3 of my tips. Tell me, do you have any awesome ones to add?
I'm a life + success coach for humans like you who want the support to gain the clarity, confidence, and competence to become the most confident and successful version of yourself.
Great advice! Quick to listen….slow to speak….and slow to become angry. Hope your week is full of firm hand shakes!
