There is a definitive mindset switch as the seasons change (at least for me).
Each new season brings events and adventures to look forward to, it’s own set of holidays, a “clean” slate to start or progress on goals, and a transition in fashion. As we’re approaching the middle of September (!), I’m drawn to darker shades – burgundy, forest green, deep navy, mustard and of course – leopard. But, it’s hard to bring out the quilted vests and flannels (two Midwest staples) when the high temperature for the day is 84 degrees.
To counter this, I’ve noticed myself choosing fall colors in summer appropriate styles. The short sleeves and bare legs say summer, but the color combination says fall. This LUSH skirt (HERE) is a great piece, as it is lightweight and shorter, but the burgundy color is gorgeous for mixing and matching with a ton of fall colors. It can also be easily paired with tights when we eventually reach the winter months.
I’m also a huge fan of sneakers (if you somehow haven’t noticed) and was ecstatic when I managed to score these Loeffler Randall kicks for 60% off retail (HERE). Admittedly, they are still pretty expensive for a sneaker. But at the rate I wear sneaks, I have no doubt my cost per wear will eventually be pennies. Plus – I can fit my running socks comfortably underneath then & still look stylish. (the dream!)
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. And as always, thank you SO much to anyone who takes time out of their day to read this!

PPS. I sized up one to a Medium in this skirt so I felt comfortable wearing it to work

This is such a perfect outfit to wear on a hot day when you want to embrace fall. It’s been pretty hot here too, so I’ve been taking a similar approach. No need to roast in sweaters. There’s plenty of time to wear those too 😉

Something About That
very true – the cold will inevitably arrive – no need to rush it haha!
I love the idea of wearing fall colors in summer styles. It’s such a great way to get geared up for the season without being super sweaty on a warm day. I wish we still had summer temps here, but it’s cooling down at a rapid rate over here. Hoping we have a few warm days left!
