feeling adventurous? try one of these trends for fall!

Two huge fall trends I’ve been scoping the last few months are velvet & embroidery. Especially with New York Fashion Week in full swing, statement pieces with these elements have been popping up everywhere. Love them or hate them, you will for sure be seeing both this fall!

For embroidery, think bombers jackets, embroidered denim, embroidered skirts and my favorite – embroidered boots!

And velvet, think body-con dresses, blazers, pumps and my favorite again – velvet boots.

As much as I appreciate trends, I really only try to incorporate ones that I truly like, not just ones that are popular. I also search (somewhat obsessively) for the right piece from each trend. My style is all over the board, but some items that simply aren’t ME. (aka body con dresses, platform sneaks, etc).

When shopping for something trendy I’m usually pretty particular – it needs to fit me well, remix well with my current wardrobe, and be reasonably priced.  Some places I go to find affordable trendy pieces are: H&M, Asos, River Island (also sold at Asos), Zara and TopShop. I generally stay out of Forever 21 (mainly because it is far too overwhelming for me to deal with) – but I bet they will be promoting some velvet & embroidered pieces as well.

I’m currently on the hunt for a pair of velvet shoes (either pumps or ankle boots) and potentially a blazer. I ordered a pair of embroidered jeans already (fingers crossed they fit) and have had my eye on a few skirts. All these pieces are items I already wear – and will easily integrate into my current wardrobe and style. I’ve linked a few of my favorite embroidered & velvet pieces below.
