You can file all of those under “things I love” = plaid, pattern mixing, polka dots, pearls (+ alliteration!)
I’m a fan of mixing the same pattern in different sizes (I have stripes on stripes coming for you soon!) Because the polka dots are significantly smaller on my shirt, and mixed in with plaid, I think they pair well with the larger polka dots on my skirt.
I chose to stay within the same color family with this outfit; sticking with shades of blue and some neutrals (white & gray). For me, at least for this, it felt more pulled together than trying to pair this shirt with a pink polka dot skirt.
While I love playing with patterns that don’t fall into the same color family, you have to be a bit selective when deciding.
Generally I try to stick to one pattern with neutrals (think black and white stripes) and one pattern with color (think florals). Otherwise it can get a bit overwhelming and you can end up looking disheveled instead of stylish.
What are your tips & tricks for pattern mixing?

PS. HAPPY FRIDAY! I have a full weekend of outdoor activity ahead of me (think beach volleyball, paddleboarding & the pool) – what do you have planned?
