I blame myself for my breakup with riding boots.
It happened gradually, with the casual slow fade method.
First I would go weeks without wearing them, then months, and now years. Somewhere in 2014 the fire between me and my riding boots went out. And my love affair with ankle boots began.
I remember feeling pretty darn stylish with my assortment of Target riding boots back in 2010, and then proud when “splurged” on a real leather pair that I loved in 2012. But by fall 2014 I was barely wearing them, and found myself always hunting for ankle boots or wearing one of the two pairs I had. After that it was a lost cause – I became hooked. Over the past few years I’ve added multiple pairs to my lineup (I probably have 8 pairs now?) but you really can’t beat them. I pair mine with everything – skirts, dresses, jeans, leggings, and I love having a little bit of a chunky heel. That way I can elongate my short legs without sacrificing comfort!
Personally I like ankle boots better because I don’t have to worry cheap flomax about tucking my pants in or having my legs feel restricted. (And I think being short plays a role there too!)
But, I am on the hunt for a pair of over the knee boots (if I can find some reasonably priced that don’t make me look like a squash), so we will see if that ever works out for me. I ordered a pair a few years ago that were the most unflattering thing ever so I don’t have high hopes haha.
Tell me, what are your favorite boots to wear? Are you an ankle boot gal? A riding boot gal?
Happy Thursday & thanks for following along!
