I was in tears before 7:45am yesterday.
(And now that I’ve calmed down, I can see that I was exhausted and overdramatic. but nevertheless, tears before 8:00am are never a good thing)
I was pretty sick yesterday and I woke up every hour from 12pm -6am the night prior. That lack of sleep and sickness, combined with my sore jaw from clenching it in my sleep and my right eye that’s been twitching for 3 weeks – led me to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. (I’m such a joy sometimes).
Anyway, we had put laundry in the dryer later the night before and left it overnight – intending to snag it before going to work in the morning. While this isn’t my preferred method, we’ve done it before when sleep is more important than folding your laundry at 11:45pm. Much to our surprise, when B went to snag the laundry it wasn’t there.
As in someone had STOLEN our laundry in the middle of the night.
Mind you, our laundry is not exciting. Socks, workout clothes, underwear, t-shirts from college, Target bath towels. Nothing exciting. But apparently exciting enough for someone to steal it.
What did I do?
I cried. I was tired, sick, frustrated and in shock.
After multiple calls to our apartment complex office, I finally spoke with someone there and learned that this is an on-going issue. Apparently someone has been stealing women’s underwear from the laundry rooms (which require a tenant key to get into). They wouldn’t admit to me how many times it has happened but they did say there have been multiple occurrences. I urged them (at least 5 times) to please alert all the residents about this because had I known I wouldn’t have left my laundry. Moving forward I will be babysitting my clothes while they wash & dry so I’m going to stock up on some good books!
PS.(I did go back and check for it 6 different times to give people the benefit of the doubt in case someone had accidentally taken the wrong laundry…unfortunately no luck)
I was really in a rut about all of this yesterday.
You know when some things affect you more than they should? That was me (I blame the lack of sleep).
Thankfully, someone invented NyQuil so I got to sleep through the night last night and am feeling much better today. Re-reading this now its pretty darn entertaining (and creepy) that we have a laundry thief, and I’m really going to work on not letting things ruffle my feathers.
2016 has been quite the year of challenges for me, and lately I’ve been letting too many things get under my skin.
Is anyone else like this? One thing gets to you and then you end up being a huge drama queen over absolutely everything? (or is it just me?!)
MOVING ON –
Jess killed it with these photos and I love the way they turned out. If you’re only here for the clothes (and not the embarrassing stories that are in fact my day-to-day life), my OTK boots are HERE and under $100, this dress is available at both Lulu’s & ShopBop, and this furry clutch from the Who What Wear collection at Target was a complete impulse buy 😉
Cheers to the almost weekend. And if you’re in So Cal – come join me tonight at the Costa Mesa Vanity Belle location for their 2nd Anniversary party from 6-8pm!
Thanks for listening to me ramble guys. You’re great.
xo, Maddy

Oh my! Why would someone steal underwear? Sorry about the emotional upset.
You look lovely, and that’s such a pretty dress you have on.

I can’t believe someone stole your laundry – awful and disgusting at the same time!
