The color of this skirt completely sold me on it. Well, the color and the fact that it was hanging alone on a random rack in H&M and magically ended up being my size. (That’s fate people). I was actually cutting through H&M to return a top at Old Navy, but fate swooped in and I walked out with this skirt (and a quilted backpack for my upcoming San Francisco trip). Damn you, H&M! But now, onto the 3 questions you should ask yourself before purchasing items for your closet…
Yes, it may be beautiful on the hanger or the model, but what really matters is how you feel in it. Does it fit well? Is it flattering? Do you feel confident and comfortable wearing it?
If not, no matter how pretty it is, you should leave it at the store.
This may not apply for some special occasion items, but for any day to day items you want to have versatility. Focus on building a closet with remixing potential, instead of buying individual pieces that don’t work together.
Because my office dress code is more casual, many of the items I own can easily transition from office to weekend. I prefer to have clothes that can work for (almost) any day of the week instead of having “work clothes” and “weekend clothes.” While I do own a few items that aren’t work appropriate, I would say majority of my closet can work for many different situations.
For example, I knew I could wear this skirt to work, but it would also look pretty for any nice dinners, parties or events. In my opinion, this bright magenta color can be worn year round, so there is a lot of potential for styling this skirt.
Have a wonderful weekend!
