I’m an early morning/nighttime glasses wearer, so if you’re ever at my office before 9:00am or at my house past 9:00pm on a weeknight then I’m probably wearing some specs.
Naturally, I want my glasses to be fun and a continuation of my style, so I’m always on the hunt for affordable places to find great glasses. At any given time I have 2-3 different pairs of prescription glasses. I’ll keep a cheap pair in my car and interchange the others.
blue – Firmoo /// wire – Coastal /// tortoise – Eye Buy Direct
They were the first place I ordered from back in 2012 and I keep coming back. The frames are not the sturdiest, but I did have my ophthalmologist double check the prescription in the lenses and he gave it a thumbs up. I actually did a blog collaboration with them back in 2014 (here).
I found out about Zenni through a college classmate because she had the coolest cat-eye glasses. They have some funky frames and are on par with Firmoo for quality.
**it should be noted that I am not gentle with my glasses. I always get plastic lenses because I often throw them in a purse, knock them off my nightstand, or fall asleep in them.
They are currently offering 35% off glasses and 20% off contacts and free shipping on your first order by signing up for their newsletter (heck yeah!) I have ordered my contacts from here as well in the past and was happy with their shipping speed & quality.
Coastal does have a wide variety of frames – with more expensive & designer options as well.
My most recent pair of specs (here – that I’m wearing in the photo above) are from Eye Buy Direct. I think my total cost was $42 for them because I had a discount code, and they feel significantly more sturdy than my Firmoo or Zenni pairs. They also offer a discount code on your first purchase by signing up for their newsletter, so take advantage of that. Similar to Coastal, they have higher end pairs as well. I’m thinking about a clear pair for my next ones – what do you think of these?
PS. none of this is sponsored, I just thought it may be helpful information for anyone in the market for new glasses!

Lol I got glasses in 4th grade and remember being SO excited about them. Now, not so much 😉 I still have a Firmoo pair from 2012 too that are still going strong!

I know, much less exciting as we age (and the eyes get worse!). glad to hear yours are still kickin’
This is a great post and I can totally vouch for a couple of those sites too. If you get the measurements correct, it’s really easy to know what will look good on you.

Thanks so much! I figured it would definitely be useful information for some 🙂
I got glasses in the 4th grade and I was SO embarrassed! None of my friends had glasses. I kept telling my mom I couldn’t see the board, and she thought there was a large headed kid sitting in front of me! I desperately need new glasses. Mine get so beat up! (also my prescription is way out dated…)

I am OBSESSED with the tortoise ones! I’m always looking for new glasses…I’ve been a four eyes since grade 3!
