I tried to write this post while at Panera last night but couldn’t seem to do it. (But shoutout to the cashier who gave me the free Valentine’s cookie I didn’t need but definitely ate. #weak)
I was feeling uninspired (to say the least) and pretty physically crappy because I decided to go big and eat a ton of breads/simple carbs, leaving me feeling like I was 6 months pregnant (I’m not.) That, combined with the looming dread of going to the dungeon at 7:00am, had me down and out. But, instead of being a lazy bum, I forced myself to go to the gym, and I am SO glad I did. I had to make up Friday’s workout I skipped in addition to Sunday’s, so I was there for 95 minutes, and left completely exhausted & shaky (in the best way possible).
I spent 3 days in San Francisco two weekends ago, we had a friend (hey Isiah!) visiting from Thursday-Sunday this past week, and now this Thursday afternoon I’m hopping on a plane again and won’t return until Monday night. I’m absolutely not complaining, as you all know how much I love traveling, but its hard to really stay in a routine with so much movement.
In order to combat the inevitable “falling off the bandwagon” I decided last Wednesday to start counting my macros (macronutrients) again in order to get back into a good groove (and feel good!) With our visitor this weekend I did a poor job so…hello Monday, time to restart.
If you’re unfamiliar, “Macronutrients are what make up the caloric content of a food. Sometimes referred to as “macros,” the three categories of macronutrients are carbohydrates, fat, and protein. The caloric combination of the macros is where that mysterious total number of calories comes from. Here’s the breakdown:
So it’s not about how many calories are in your food, but what kind of calories are in your food. Even if you set a strict calorie limit and stick to it, you could be eating total garbage and not getting the nutrients you need.” (quote source here)
Okay so this post totally ended up being a little brain dump and I apologize. I had grand plans for other content but this is what we’re working with today. But maybe you learned about macros?
-working out will make you feel better
-macros are a good way to stay on track without sacrificing treats completely (like when life throws you a free Valentine’s cookie)
-YOU GOT THIS.

Thank you Liv! A little sparkle is always a good idea!
Gorgeous dress! And I love the pink shoes! I have heard several people talking about counting macros, but I didn’t really know anything about it until now.

Thank you Nikki. I really like it because it allows me to have treats occasionally and just adjust the rest of my day for them instead of binging or beating myself up about it.
I have always been kind of curious about macros. Ugh, I have been on a terrible kick lately. I have got to stop with the sweets. Love that fun dress on you.

Sweets are 100% addicting. I’ve cut WAY back lately though and my cravings have definitely subsided. You can do it!
love how you added the pink heels! super cute outfit!

Thanks so much Kelsey! A good pop of pink never fails.
This was just the little motivation I needed this morning. I’ve been feeling blah, but I’m getting back to my workout routine today!
