hello friends! (+ Happy Monday)
The sun is shining and I’m writing this at the table with a vase of gorgeous flowers I snagged from Trader Joe’s, so I’m a happy lady. Last week I touched on dressing for your body type and the myth that fashion and style are the same. Over the next few months, I want to delve deeper into the topic of personal style, how to find your own, building a closet that reflects this style and working with pieces you already own. Since I have so much information in my head regarding these topics, I’m going to attempt to handle bite size pieces in blog posts. Today, let’s focus on making your wardrobe work for you, but more specifically, dual purpose pieces.
As I’ve mentioned previously, I aim to purchase items that can work in multiple facets of my life (excluding special event pieces). I’ve always been a jumpsuit fan (see here + here), but up until now I’ve only purchased “fancy” jumpsuits. A few weeks ago two “casual” jumpsuits caught my eye; this striped one from Gap (40% off today with code NEW) and this polka dot one from Target (that I shared in my Instastories last week). I love how lightweight + comfortable they are, and that they have the ability to transition seamlessly from office to weekend. Both have thicker straps, appropriate necklines and are loose enough that I feel comfortable wearing them to work. I styled the polka dot one twice last week; once for work with my cropped denim jacket + pink heels (can’t get enough) and once for dinner with low black heels, a scarf and a leather jacket.
I’m looking forward to rocking them during lazy weekends as well with sneakers or sandals once it gets warmer. Overall, casual jumpsuits like this Gap one are useful additions to my wardrobe. I can wear them for work, going out to dinner/drinks and hanging out on the weekends. Plus, the neutral stripes mean there is plenty of room for fun accessories…my speciality 🙂
Now, I know jumpsuits are not everyone’s style (its all good). But, I’m curious, what are pieces that you remix for all areas of your life? Are you a sundress gal? Or maybe you love ankle pants?Let me know!
PS. As far as sizing goes – this runs big. I am wearing the XS and am taking it to get tailored.

I really like jumpsuits, but I’ve never owned one. I wouldn’t get one that’s shorter like yours (just because my legs are like two inches long and I’d looked ridiculous!) but I was surprised when I tried on a full-length one last year and LOVED it. I just got into rompers last summer and loved them. I’m definitely a dress girl – just wear it with a cardigan, tights and boots when it’s cold! That’s how I get through life. 🙂
I definitely think full length ones can really help us short gals out!
Such a cute jumpsuit!! It would be so cute with a black blazer too! Looks adorable on you. I wish I was comfortable in jumpsuits … and pants. I wear skirts and dresses 100% of the time (unless I am in my gym clothes). I always look for pieces I can wear multiple ways, especially as I have gotten older.

skirts + dresses are more comfortable anyway 🙂
