I’m a horrible thrift shopper. I don’t usually have enough patience, the smell inside the store gets to me, and over my years of trying to become a thrift shopper, I’ve purchased numerous pieces that I’ve worn once or not at all. After coming to the realization I get more bang for my buck by purchasing new items, I’ve almost completely stopped thrifting. I do still use Poshmark here and there, or if an item I wanted has sold out I will try to find it secondhand. (Or sometimes I decide I love a pattern from last season J.Crew…that’s what happened with this top).
But, I will absolutely search out secondhand designer bags. I’ve thrifted two in the last few years; this Louis Vuitton and this Dooney & Bourke (which I no longer own).
Why should I buy leather bags secondhand?
1.) Good quality leather ages well – vintage ones are gorgeous
2.) You can pay a lot less for a high quality bag that will last
3.) You can find styles that are no longer made
4.) If you take good care of it you will probably be able to resell it

I used to thrift a little because my grandma and aunts are super into it, but I never really found anything I loved. Plus the smell – why do they all have that smell?! Online sites like the ones you listed sound like a much better option 😉 The only thing that skives me out about used handbags is that the interiors always seem to be dirty.

I never shop second hand. I’m always jealous of the people who go thrifting and find these amazing things. I get all nervous and anxious when I try. I don’t have the patience to dig. Buying a good bag second hand is a great idea.
