I see it all the time with my style clients, my friends and myself.
“I can’t wear that because I’m not thin enough”
“There’s no way I’ll get this job, I’m not qualified enough”
“I can’t go to that party, I’m way too old”
We have to stop being afraid of trying things outside our comfort zone.
I get it, its scary, and uncomfortable and weird and may totally blow up in your face. But what’s the worst that can happen? You apply for a job and don’t get it? You aren’t feeling the party so you leave after 30 minutes?
I have a feeling this post could end up being a novel if I’m not careful so I’ll try to articulate my point efficiently and effectively here 🙂
(applying this to life + fashion)
These pants I’m wearing – they are technically a swim cover up from Talbots. Yep, Talbots, that store your mom even thought was too old for her. (But then somehow we ended up spending over an hour there and both walked out with goodies).
You never know. You may love shopping at Talbots, or wearing a trendy piece you thought was “too young.”
You may love that new restaurant, or the 3 people you met at a party where you knew no one, or the job you thought you couldn’t get.

PS. Tell me – what’s the most random place you’ve found awesome clothing?

Love this! It can be so hard to step out of your comfort zone, but I’ve found it’s almost always worth it.
OMG those pants, I need them in my life!! I love that you wrote about this….. I am always trying to step out of my comfort zone with fashion. I need to remember to do this in other aspects of my life!
