On My Radar (+ a giveaway)

Happy Hump Day!

I haven’t done an “on my radar” post in a while and I have a handful of completely unrelated items I want to share with you all 🙂

First up: Mixology

I recently discovered this online shop (and am already coveting this ruffle gingham mini skirt). They have a ton of great pieces for summer (and swan shaped pool floats if you’re in the market). Third: Just finished reading Driving Miss Norma.

The book, just published in May, is the story of Miss Norma’s trip across the US in an RV after being diagnosed with uterine cancer at the age of 90. The true story became a Facebook phenomenon in 2015 + 2016, when Miss Norma was traveling the country with her son Tim and daughter-in-law Ramie. Ramie started a Facebook page to chronicle their journey, and soon people all over the country (and world) were inviting Miss Norma to their city. The novel chronicles highlights of the trip from both Tim and Ramie’s point of view, and I absolutely sobbed at the end of it.

My mom was a huge fan and discovered their journey in the beginning and religiously followed it on Facebook, so you bet she snagged the book when it came out. I would HIGHLY recommend, but be prepared for it to tug on your heartstrings. It was unbelievably heartwarming, especially with Miss Norma’s adventures and the emotional growth of the family during their journey. (Miss Norma was from Toledo, OH and lived in Grand Rapids, MI for part of her life, so it was very relevant to me)

Fourth: S’mores Halo Top

I don’t really love ice cream all that much but I cannot get enough of this flavor. If you haven’t jumped on the protein ice cream boat you should!

Fifth: Sunscreen

Working outside I wear sunscreen ALL THE TIME. But still get burnt. I recently was reading articles about safe vs. unsafe sunscreens and picked one up from a “safe” list. I bought Aveeno Baby Zinc Oxide lotion that is mineral based + paraben free. So far it seems to be working well – I found mine at Meijer but it is available at Target as well.
