for example:
— the fact that I ended up at the bars with no makeup + glasses Friday night
— about what to post/not post on instagram
— how I look in a certain tank top at the gym (I’m rolling my eyes at myself as I type this but I’m just being honest y’all)
And further proof that it is all in my head? I received multiple compliments from strangers on my glasses throughout the night. [aka no one cared that I looked tired and wasn’t wearing makeup].
Overall I would say I’m a confident person. I’m pretty self aware and am able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I work hard to try to receive constructive criticism well, even though it doesn’t always work out. But sometimes, one tiny nagging thought gets out of hand and starts creeping into all my other thoughts.
I think most of us are afraid of rejection (or failure) and being disliked. So we strive to be the “best” or be “perfect” in order to protect ourselves from others judging us for those “failures.”
Hate to break it to you (and me), but people are going to judge no matter what you do. And that isn’t your problem.
Unless you’re being a complete a-hole, if people choose to judge you for your personal choices, that is 100% their problem.
(And I think we’ve all been on both sides of this).
I feel like this post could easily get out of hand so I’m going to attempt to wrap it up here. We’re all insecure in some way, and most people are too busy focusing on their own “flaws” to even notice if I’m wearing makeup at the bar or not haha.

Big thanks to both my sisters. Shannon shot these photos for me + Gretchen helped me get some of these thoughts down on virtual paper.

I’m always second guessing my Instagram posts and once you REALLY think about it – it’s so dumb! Post what you want, it’s not for others to judge. Thanks for this post, girl.

I know – it really is. Thanks for reading!

I totally get you! I get super insecure about the stupidest things too! I always try and take a step back to put things in a bigger perspective. It’s so crazy how big things can grow in your head. Also love your outfit, those boots are so cute!
