I’m sure some of you know this, but I wore plaid for about 12 years straight (Catholic school life). From 1st grade through 12th grade, I was either wearing a plaid jumper or skirt, paired with a monogrammed polo. So, as you can imagine, I was scarred from polos and plaid after graduating high school.
To this day I will only wear a polo if it is an absolutely required uniform (like here) and I think I’ve worn a plaid skirt once or twice in the last 8 years...
Although these days I prefer my plaid in the form of flannel shirts, shirt dresses and most recently…boots!
These were definitely a “just for fun” purchase, and in no way could I rationalize my way into needing plaid boots. But ShopBop and Jeffrey Campbell always find a way to get me, and these beauties are no exception.
Conveniently ShopBop started their sale today, so you if you’ve been eyeing anything there for yourself or for gifting purposes, you can now save up to 25% on full price merchandise.
I know plaid boots don’t seem versatile at first glance; they’re bright, flashy + most definitely a statement piece. But, because they are so colorful, it’s easy to pair them with solid colored pieces you already own. For example, I already have outfits in mind with my green midi skirt, mustard cardigan and blue earrings. I’ve already worn them with this mustard blouse I’ve had for years (that is conveniently still available) and have plans to style them with this pretty green dress (also on sale!) this upcoming weekend.
My advice? Don’t let bold pieces overwhelm you. I recognize they aren’t for everyone, but if you want to wear something bright + crazy, rock it.
No better time than the holiday season!
