(Almost Practical) New Year’s Eve outfit ideas

Putting together a top-notch NYE outfit can be a challenge when it’s freezing. Sure, it would be great to rock a sequin dress and sandals, but when it has the potential to be single digits outside, that is the LAST thing anyone should be doing.

Luckily, there are still plenty of ways to bring the “wow” factor to an outfit while staying (somewhat) warm. Here are my suggestions:

1.) Festive pants

Think sequin joggers, faux leather leggings, or a full length jumpsuit. It doesn’t have to be short and skimpy.

These Abercrombie sequin joggers have good reviews + are on sale, and I’ve featured both these Spanx leggings and LOFT faux leather leggings on the blog recently. And for a nice throwback – I went head to toe sequins in 2013…you may remember these gold joggers?

2.) Long sleeve bodysuits

If your plans are casual, just add jeans, boots and a jacket. If you want to get dressed up – a bodysuit works with any length skirt.

I’m wearing a silver and gray one from H&M (it has shimmer thread woven in) that is currently on sale for $10.99! The nice thing about a bodysuit is you can wear it long after the holidays. H&M has a ton of affordable options for all styles.

3.) Over the Knee Boots

Personally, I enjoy my over the knee boots (but I know they aren’t for everyone). Mainly for the fact that I can wear knee high thick socks underneath them and no one can tell.

They’re a little bit sexy, but also allow for maximum leg coverage and thick socks if you want to wear a dress, which is the route I took last year. 

4.) Faux Fur

It’s warm, it’s festive, it’s fun. I’ve already written an entire blog post about faux fur this year so I’ll keep it short and sweet today. 

 

Today I combined 3 of the 4 ideas into the look you see above. The purse is actually a rental (sadly). I’m trying out a free month of Rent the Runway unlimited that I will be reviewing in two weeks. Stay tuned 🙂

I already owned all of these items, and I recognize it’s a bit late to be shopping for an NYE outfit, so I’m challenging you to mix and match pieces you already own.
