Some of my favorites from this past month…
I finally got a Final Straw (reusable, foldable straw) and I love it. People have definitely given me some weird looks but I drink iced coffee daily and love that I can use it at work then take it with me whenever I need to.
Sometimes I find that racerback sports bras dig into the knots on my shoulders + are uncomfortable, so I was excited to try these non-racerback bras. These bras feel secure and are seriously SO soft. The higher cut neckline and long line is great as well, as my heart rate monitor strap stays secure. It does come with removable cups – I don’t know how great it would be for support if you’re bigger chested, but Aerie is always having amazing deals, so if you’re in the market for sport bras check it out.
Between birthdays, travel and new restaurants opening in Grand Rapids I ate out a lot this month! I shared the “new to me” restaurants Devin and I visited in DC here, but if you’re local this month we tried Hancock (just opened), Zivio (just opened) and Palio (new to me).
Hancock is southern food and fried chicken, Zivio is “modern european cuisine” (which they describe as Bosnian, with a bit of Greek and Turkish inspired dishes) and Palio is Italian. Truthfully I don’t eat fried chicken (it makes me feel sick) but I can say that Hancock’s biscuits with jalapeño honey butter were good haha. I think my favorite was Zivio, but I really enjoyed Palio as well. But, Zivio is more casual and about a half mile walk from our house so I have a feeling we will be there frequently.
Last weekend I spent some time in Ann Arbor with my friend Casey and we tried four “new to us” places:
Frita Batitos (cuban inspired street food)
Last Word (speakeasy-esque bar)
Blank Slate Creamery (ice cream, duh!)
Prickly Pear (mexican!)
**I’d recommend them all!
And now looking at this it looks like I ate out WAY too much in March, but between birthdays and friends visiting, it was nice to try to some new spots!
Okay, so this technically happened this week (aka April) but I’m including it here. I shared this story the other day, but back in May/June I bought a 4 pack of lightweight wool blend socks from Costco by the brand Life is Good. I gave a pair to my best friend’s mom, and then put mine away until the fall. Well, once I started wearing them I fell in love with them. No joke the best socks I’ve ever worn (and I wear a lot of socks). They’re warm, fit amazing, don’t make your feet sweat, fit under ankle boots, are great to layer (I could go on!) After months of searching with no luck (my sweet mom even emailed Life is Good customer service), I finally found them online…and promptly ordered nine 4-packs (don’t worry, they aren’t all for me). So yeah, I’m weirdly excited about socks haha.
It is AMAZING having the sun out later! While I was really liking the early sunrise (I’m about to start transitioning myself back to morning workouts for the summer) I really enjoy being able to spend time outside after work.
So tell me, what did you love this past month?
xo, Maddy
