Happy first day of October! It’s officially the 4th quarter of 2019, which is just wild. But, I sat down and wrote out some goals for my final 90 days last night so I’m feeling good about that. Here’s to a strong finish for 2019!
Five things I loved this month:
Slowing down – this month I finally had some time to SLOW down on the weekends, which meant morning strolls with coffee, a trip to the Fulton St. Farmers Market, more phone dates with long distance friends, more quality time with friends, and more time to breathe. It was much needed, and am looking forward to even more quality time with my people in October.
My love for Athleta is borderline obnoxious, so it’s not a surprise that I adore their newest fabric – SuperSonic. It had been in the works for years, but recently launched and is absolutely worth the hype. I ended up getting the ColorBlock Crunch set during their friends + family sale and have been wearing the pieces at least 2x per week. The tights are currently on sale! They stay up when I squat, aren’t see through and are the thinner than the Elation tights! (Stick with normal Athleta sizes)
I am one of four siblings, so I rarely spend time with both my parents without at least one other kid there haha. My parents came up to Grand Rapids for Saturday + Sunday of Labor Day weekend, which was awesome. They wanted to work on the house, but I convinced them the lake was a better idea so we walked all over Grand Haven, enjoyed the pier and beach and had an amazing dinner (plus fudge!). We logged lots of walking miles + ate plenty of good food, which was great for a holiday weekend.
I’m back to running once a week and swimming once a week (which I absolutely need but let slide during the crazy summer months) My friend Kayla and I now have a standing Tuesday 7:00am run, which is a great opportunity for us to catch up for 30 minutes each week, and for me to get my butt out of bed for some pre-work cardio. It was humbling getting back into the pool (I swim with a coach and lunchtime group) after 4 months out of the water, but hey, always good to get my butt kicked.
I overcommit myself, nothing new here, but this month I had to have some hard conversations and remove myself from projects I said I would accomplish. Putting my ego aside to do so was way more challenging than expected, but the sense of relief I felt after doing so was 100% worth it. Saying no is something I always need to be practicing. Luckily, life gives me plenty of opportunities to do so haha.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to the next three months, and excited and hopeful for some big changes, and I can’t wait to share more on here. Hope you all have a great first day of October and thank you for stopping by!
xo, Maddy
