A little late to the game as it’s already October 8th, but this month my friend Kate of Kate Lately and I are teaming up to participate in a 30×30 challenge for the month of October. I created a 30 piece capsule wardrobe to get me through the month, but technically this will really be a 30×31 since there are 31 days in October 🙂
I did a 30×30 challenge YEARS AGO on here, but it was sporadic and took me way longer than the allotted 30 days, so this time Kate and I decided we would choose 30 items from our closets and create outfits for the entire month of October. In addition, we decided this would be a great month for a shopping ban! What I like about these challenges is they force you to be creative, and work with pieces you already own. They help me see the potential of many of my simpler items, and prove to me that I really could work with a lot less.
Below are the 30 pieces I chose for my capsule. As you can see, I included EVERYTHING – belt, shoes and bags. About half of the items I chose were no longer available, so I found the closest piece I could for this collage. Many of them are still available, so I have direct links for those. This PDF was made to be shoppable, so if you download it here you can click each item and it will take you to the item. Otherwise, I have a widget below for you to shop!
I opted for mostly neutral items for my capsule, with a few pops of print + color here and there. The two main things I’ve discovered about making a capsule wardrobe work are:
1.) choosing a color palette that works well together
2.) getting creative with layering
No joke, I can easily create 100+ outfits with these 30 capsule pieces (which I am working on finishing up a PDF version of this for you)!
I plan on having a few more posts this month about my capsule wardrobe, the outfits I’m actually wearing, and sharing plenty of other styling options for these 30 pieces.
Thanks for stopping by today! I’d love to hear in the comments if you’ve ever done a style challenge or worked with a capsule wardrobe.

Love this! I’m so excited to be doing this with you. I also love that our color palettes are neutral, but we used different accent colors! I’m jealous of your skirts – I just can’t wear them. Also can’t wait to see how you style that croc print dress – GORG.
