Good morning!
I simultaneously have a lot to say and nothing to say right now, so I’ll be keeping today’s post short + sweet. There are 5 higher quality posts in my drafts right now, just waiting to be finished + shared. Hopefully I’ll get to work on those over “Christmas break” aka the long weekend I’ll be in Ohio.
(sidenote- I miss real Christmas break).
I’ve shared print mixing on the blog for years, but usually in “large” doses. (Think big florals with stripes, plaid + leopard, etc) Today’s look is a more subtle nod to print mixing, with the goal to show that a small accessory can still be a statement.
I could’ve easily worn a black belt with this dress, but I loved how the leopard was bolder and highlights my actual waist. The same rules still apply to subtle mixing, try to pair a smaller pattern with a larger pattern. I still believe this is the best combination.
Another way to dip your toe into the print mixing world is with a patterned shoe or boot and a simple striped top. It feels less overwhelming with more “blank space” between the first print and the second. Leopard + stripes are probably my top two prints to mix, so I’d recommend starting with those!
Anyway, a quick update while we’re here. We moved into the house, and while it is close, it’s not completely done. We’re slowly working our way through lots of little indoor projects now that is it freezing!! I will share updates soon…really just waiting until the massive tool box and table saw are not hanging out and about anymore 🙂
Thanks for stopping by today, I’m hoping you’ll be hearing a lot more from me soon!
xo, Maddy
