Good morning, and happy first day of April. It’s a new month and a new quarter! Even though we are still at home a while longer, I decided I need to leave the BS of March behind me and set attainable goals for myself in April. Amongst those goals is showing up on the blog 2-3 days a week! Attempting to find some normalcy by sharing my monthly closet recap today. I must say, all the items here I purchased before I was laid off, so I’m not THAT irresponsible.
I purchased two pairs of polarized sunglasses from Common Shade, which is sadly no longer in business. I’d actually been eyeing one pair for months, but ended up buying two pairs for a deal during their closing sale. To offset this I sold a pair of Ray Bans this month!
As I mentioned last week, I finally found a yellow sundress that met my qualifications. Bonus points that it’s affordable + from Target! I also purchased a stretch woven belt off Amazon (originally for Mexico) that I’ll pair with dresses this spring + summer.
Before the sh** really hit the fan, I went into Gina’s Boutique and purchased this orange dress + a bracelet. Gina’s Boutique is a local, female run business and I wanted to help support a small Grand Rapids business during this time.
I had both a yellow + orange cotton sundress on my spring/summer wishlist, so I’m happy I was able to add them to my closet. Now I just need the weather to warm up and to be allowed to go out…
Lastly, I had to replace my running shoes. I don’t think this counts as a closet recap item, but I’m happy to say I found a barely used pair of my favorite Sauconys on Poshmark. A win win because I saved money + it was a more sustainable way to purchase. 🙂
Promoting shopping feels really weird right now, and I am unfollowing people on Instagram who are being tone deaf to the current environment. Personally, my desire to shop is low for multiple reasons, especially since I have been actively working to be a more conscious consumer. There’s also the obvious reason (I’m unemployed) and the second obvious (we can’t go anywhere!). I do wish I was in a position to support more small businesses, and I will as soon as I’m able.
We both know I have plenty in my closet, so my wishlist is currently pretty short. This weekend I will be going through and switching out my fall/winter and spring/summer items. And I plan to do another round of clean out then.
I am getting dressed every weekday still because it makes me feel more like myself. It’s also a great opportunity to make sure clothes still fit + they still deserve space in my closet.
Alright, I feel like I’m starting to ramble now. I’d love to hear from you if you’re shopping or not? Let me know!
Thanks for stopping by.
xo, Maddy
