THERE ARE SO MANY AMAZING FEMALE OWNED BRANDS OUT THERE.
hey there + Happy Thursday. Today I want to cover 12 different female owned brands I have personally supported. There are SO many amazing female owned brands out there, and I plan to continually discover and purchase from more. But for now – here are 12 whose products I have actually worn/used myself!
The older I get the more important the person/motive/story behind the brand is. Don’t get me wrong, I still purchase from places like H&M and Target sometimes, but I want to know who my money is supporting as well.
Conveniently I am supporting 8 of the 12 brands in these outfit photos. Surprised? Don’t be.
Without further ado, some bomb female owned brands…
BY CHARI is a Black female owned business based out of LA. She has a mixture of fine jewelry + more affordable pieces. If you remember from June I ordered my ear cuffs from her! (You can see in the top photo gallery)
The Lip Bar is a Black female owned beauty business based out of Detroit, MI! The products are vegan + cruelty free and pretty damn dreamy. I ordered Fresh Glow Bronzer/Blush Duo (in Travel Bug), the liquid eyeshadow (in Superstar) and the lipgloss (in Baddie) back in June and have been loving them! Ps. some products are available at Target AND they have a flagship store in downtown Detroit. 🙂
Olive & June is a female owned beauty business. The polishes are vegan, cruelty free + 7-free, and the color options are perfection. I did an entire post back in April reviewing the Everything Box, one of the manicure kits. Since then I’ve purchased more colors, and actually enjoy doing my nails again. The polish dries fast, which is a GAME changer for me, as I have zero patience haha. I’m wearing multiple colors from their summer collection in this post. (love me a rainbow mani!).
Zou Xou is a Black female owned ethical business that makes beautiful footwear. Katherine started the brand in 2015 and the shoes are made in small batches, ethically in Argentina! I’m wearing the Delfina above. I bought these to replace a cheap pair of low heeled black sandals that fell apart this year, and I’m looking forward to wearing them for YEARS. You can truly feel how well made they are.
Wear Talia is female owned business based out of Newport Beach, CA. I actually met Talia back in 2016 when we lived nearby. Since then I’ve been a supporter. I love her gold filled bracelets (sourced from a local female small biz into her boutique) as well as the unique clothing she has. The cuban chain drop earrings as well as all my bracelets are from her shop. Best place to shop – via Instagram! (I have since gotten my BFF hooked as well).
Made by Mary – female owned jewelry. Wearing the poppy anklet. I cannot say enough good things about the 14k gold fill jewelry. It is my absolute favorite right now because it’s not outrageously priced AND it holds up through all my chaos.
Lise’s Pieces – female owned jewelry business based out of Canada. I own a few of her stacking rings and they’re dainty and beautiful. Lise is also pretty darn funny on Instagram. Her shop isn’t always open (she’s a one woman show – so follow her on IG for updates if you’re interested).
Goldeluxe is a female owned jewelry business based out of Detroit, MI. I actually purchased a few stacking rings from Libby when she was at a local handmade market in Toledo a few years back. I love the delicate stacking rings she makes!
Here’s a better look at the Olive & June nail polish, rings from Lise’s Pieces + Goldeluxe, and 14k gold filled bracelets from Wear Talia.
Frances Jaye – a female owned boutique in Holland, MI – Jenny (the owner) works to stock and prioritize conscious brands in her store. For example, she has Girlfriend Collective pieces (activewear made from recycled materials) both online and in store. If you’re not local you can check out the website here.
GLDN – a female owned jewelry brand that focuses on sustainability and making jewelry personal. Chrissy started the business out of her kitchen when she was a single mom (6 years ago) and now the team has grown to 85 people. 90% of the metals used are recycled, 85% of the pieces are made to order (eliminating waste), 10% off ALL profits are donated to organizations that align with their mission of empowerment, and almost all their packaging uses recycled materials. I’ve followed the brand for years on Instagram and recently received my first GLDN piece as a birthday gift (thanks Casey!)
El Cholo’s Kid – Latina female owned ethical biz that makes these awesome woven bags from recycled plastic. I have the Large size in the Cabo colorwheel and adore it. I purchased mine in early August and it appears prices have already gone up since then. So if you’ve been looking, I’d say go for it now! So far I’ve used this tote for: groceries, the beach, the pool, for packing my toiletries/towels for a trip and a quick overnight. I love the magnetic snap closure on top.
Monday Swimwear – founded by friends + swimwear connoisseurs -Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman, Monday Swimwear is a brand of swimwear I’ve followed online for years. They have a ton of different styles of suits, and even a recycled materials collection. They also will have entire lines for sale donating proceeds to charities. Currently the Sky Blue Rib suits are restocked and 15% of proceeds are going to Open Path – a nationwide non-profit that provides mental health care at a steeply reduced rate to anyone in need. When I purchased this top they had 15% of Key Lime Rib collection going to Rachel Cargle’s Loveland foundation.
Here’s a look at my Monday Swimwear top and El Cholo’s Kid bag!
I know there are SO many more brands out there, and I will continue to share, support and highlight more on here as I learn about them and purchase from them. But, if you’re in the market for new items yourself, or have any gifting to do, I highly recommend checking out some of the brands I shared today.
Also, I’d love it if you shared your favorite female owned brands with me! Drop them in the comments, share over on IG, let me know who you love to support!
