hello there + Happy Tuesday. I’ve received a few questions lately about where I find denim shorts so I wanted to share the brand I’ve been wearing for the past few years. I own three different pairs of AGOLDE denim shorts (and this denim skirt I wear frequently), so today I’m breaking down the pairs, the similarities and the differences in cut.
Are these the best photos? Absolutely not. But I want you to be able to see the shorts on a human simply standing, and not strategically posing.
All of my pairs have been purchased through ShopBop, a company I’ve been working with since 2016(!!!). Conveniently they are running a promotion this week, so if you’ve been eyeing any pairs of AGOLDE shorts, now may be your chance. Check out the details in the image below!
The Parker is the first pair I purchased, back in spring 2019. They actually made my top 10 products of 2019 and continue to be my most worn pair of shorts. Of all three pairs these have the shortest inseam (2.75 inches) so they are best for going to the pool or beach, on vacation (I wore them constantly in Hawaii), or for running around in the summer with a tank. Because of how short they are and the distressing this isn’t a pair I’d “dress up.”
I’m wearing a 26 here, which is my typical denim size. They are 100% cotton, so expect them to be stiff at first but break in with wear. The shorts have a hidden button fly and a higher rise (11.5 inches). I do know plenty of people size down with these shorts – it really depends on you and how you want them to fit. (And worse comes to worse, throw ’em in the dryer if they need to tighten up.)
Next up, the “Dee,” a very different vibe than the Parker. I purchased this pair in 2020 and also wore them frequently. Because of the black wash and the length this is a pair you can “dress up” or style easier. Last year I shared 3 ways to style them (which y’all LOVED) – you can revisit that post here.
They have a slight split hem on the sides, are 100% cotton, have a high rise (11.75 inches) and a longer inseam (4 inches). I’m wearing my typical 26 here as well. To me, these feel more mature than the Parker and they truly do serve different purposes. I dressed the “Dee” up multiple times last summer (like with this blouse!) and felt great with the longer inseam and high rise. This pair also came with me to Hawaii – and were perfect with a polka dot crop top exploring Honolulu.
Last but not least, the newest addition – the “Reese.” I actually purchased these before Hawaii but my typical 26 was too big, so I recently exchanged for a 25. These are a relaxed fit, and the do break in over time, so that felt like the right choice. Again, they are 100% cotton, have a hidden button fly, and have the longest inseam of the three pairs (4.25 inches). I’m thinking I’m going to cut a tiny bit off the bottom and maybe add a side slit in these myself. The rise says it’s 10.25 inches but feels a little higher than that (I also have a VERY SHORT torso) so take from that what you will. These offer a bit more coverage, so they’re more versatile. They’d even be great for a mom with little kiddos, so you can chase after them but still be comfy.
If you missed last week’s blog post, I started a new full time remote role yesterday, so you can bet I’ll be rotating through all three pairs of shorts alllll summer long. They aren’t cheap, but I’d rather have a few pairs I love and wear for years. And, for the record, I have friends who have found AGOLDE shorts on Poshmark as well – so don’t forget about checking out secondhand options as well my friends!
Hopefully this was helpful in some capacity. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for stopping by today! And, if you want to see them in motion, then don’t miss this post!
xo, Maddy
