Truly neutrals can be a dream, especially for traveling or a capsule wardrobe. The ability to mix and match together, while still looking stylish and chic…what more could you want?
I shared a reel of these 5 outfits on Sunday, but wanted to give them a spot on the blog as well. All of these pieces are neutral, and I’ve worn them PLENTY of different ways over the years.
For me, I tend to gravitate toward a pop of leopard to spice it up (usually in the form of a bag/clutch or shoes), but switching in different jewelry, sunglasses or belts can add variety as well.
Another way to make neutrals more bold is the fabric and texture. A faux leather skirt has a different level of edge than a tan cotton one. The swiss dot black mesh tee feels totally different than a plain black tee. Instead of a plain cream tank, the ribbed detail and one shoulder shape make it stand out.
I paired the tan faux leather skirt with my clear Schutz mules and a one shoulder cream top, but just last weekend I paired the same skirt with the white puff sleeve top (paired with the black denim skirt below) and the black sandals I’m wearing with the black midi dress.
For me the black, tan, white, cream and leopard works really well with my personal style. (I love adding denim in there as well).
But I encourage you to find what works for you – maybe you prefer black, gray, taupe and olive. Or denim, black, gray and white. Whatever it is, look for pieces you love that can easily be paired with the other items.
I am curious though, which of these looks is your favorite? Or most likely for you to wear?
xo, Maddy
