Look, there are many things in life that can be done well and done…very very poorly. Cargo-anything falls into that category.
PSA: Gentlemen this is NOT approval for you to wear cargo shorts. please don’t. just don’t do it. Okay?
Today I’m styling a pretty pair of blush pink cargo pants from Athleta…and I believe these to be a pair that is done WELL. (If you’re interested in these – stay tuned for the Athleta Friends + Family sale next weekend – I will be sharing a 20% discount code with you next week!)
*** a sizing note – I am wearing a size 4 in these pants so I would recommend sizing up one size from your typical ***
I’ve styled them 3 separate ways for today’s post – the first, slightly dressier – ideally could be worn to an office. And the second two are significantly more casual – perfect for work from home people like myself, or the weekend.
First off, I believe these cargo pants WORK because they don’t add bulk! Yes, they have the “cargo” pockets (as you can see above), but the fabric is thin and breathable, and the cut of the pant drapes nicely. The front seam is an added design bonus that also helps visually elongate the legs 🙂 Plus, I am a huge fan of taking a more “masculine” style and making it in a “feminine” color.
For a more work appropriate look I paired the cargo pants with the Aurora High Neck Ribbed tank (another Athleta fav), a knit Old Navy Blazer and these beautiful Kurt Geiger embellished flats. Are the flats practical? Absolutely not. But are they gorgeous? 100%. The blazer has hints of pink throughout the plaid so it conveniently worked with all the shades of pink/mauve I mixed here.
For the second look I went pretty Athleta heavy again – pairing the pants with the Aurora Crop Rib Tank and the Point Reyes bomber (both pieces I’ve owned and loved) and they brought back this year! This is an easy springtime weekend look that is comfortable like the sweats I’ve been living in all winter, but looks a heck of a lot more pulled together. While I consider blush to be *mostly* neutral, if you’re unsure what to pair with it, the basics (black, gray, white) are always a good start!
And lastly, my personal favorite look for two reasons. One, because it makes me look/feel way cooler than I am and two, because I love this specific pair of Nike Airmax. I searched for them online for months and lucked out finding a brand new pair on Poshmark last fall. The pastel color scheme on the shoes goes so well with my light green bucket hat (another favorite color) and the blush pants and I am here for it. This cropped sweatshirt was a random purchase from Oak + Fort that has repeatedly proved useful. Linking a similar one here.
So tell me, are we here for cargo pants?
PS. If you liked these outfits, why not pin them for later?
