Welcome back to advice from a stylist, where I give you tips and tricks and teach you what you need to know to creative a versatile and functional closet you love.
Today we’re talking about one of my favorite things…tailoring.
If you are my client, I have told you to tailor your clothes, guaranteed.
Let me say that again, don’t sleep on tailoring.
Here’s the deal – unless you are buying custom clothing, things off the rack are not made to fit our bodies. We all have our own individual and unique bodies. Companies use fit models for sizing and those fit models vary per brand.
In order for our clothes to feel good on our body they have to fit well, and that could just mean some minor adjustments. For example, a pair of jeans you love that need the waist taken in a little bit, or a dress that’s slightly too long and get a little hem, just like you could hem pants that are too long so you don’t have to only wear heels with them.
True life – I got this graphic tee below hemmed. YES, I paid to hem a tee. It was way too long on my short torso and now it is one of my most worn items.
Moral of the story – don’t be afraid to pay a little extra to make those clothes fit better for you. Because the better they fit, the better you feel and the more you’re going to wear them, which is our goal.
Tell me, do you ever get your clothes tailored??
See you next week!
