Casual Friday (+my favorite affordable sweater)

hello + happy Friday!

I’m not sure why, but this work week felt like it lasted forever (I was convinced it was Thursday on Tuesday…) so I’m really glad the weekend is actually here. Waking up to an alarm every weekday morning really stinks, but I’m definitely not one of those people who could just wake up naturally on time every morning…so alarm it is haha.

I know I shared both this sweater and these jeans in my Black Friday sale roundup, but I wear them so often I decided they deserved their own blog post. I actually purchased this sweater in August, long before sweater weather was in full swing in Grand Rapids, and have been loving it so much I purchased the ivory color in November as well.

I shared a version of this look on Instastories back in October, and I received way more messages than I expected about the sweater and jeans. I think some people struggle to find the balance between looking put together and being comfortable. To me, an outfit like this is an easy way to achieve that goal. A bold pair of boots that are comfortable but stand out (and wool socks underneath), a simple skinny jean + a casual sweater. Add a faux leather jacket, an oversized blazer, a denim jacket, or even a big cardigan and you’re all set.

What I love about this sweater:

The tunic length makes it more versatile, so you can pair it with leggings or jeans. I’ve worn it with black skinnies, cropped straight jeans and my faux leather leggings in the past few weeks.

It is also lightweight enough to layer – I actually wore it under my plaid oversized blazer for extra warmth last night to the Uptown Shop Hop.

And I know I’m not alone here, my friend Meagan loved it so much she purchased two colors as well.
