It can be too easy to fall into a style rut in the winter (if you live in a cold climate). It’s dark and freezing when you wake up, and the last thing you want to do is take off your warm, comfy pajamas and put on a skirt. I get it.
I’ve been trying to get creative with layering lately, and I touched on this a lot in last week’s post (where I shared two ways to layer up and wear a sleeveless dress in the winter). Something as simple as layering a tunic underneath a sweater or a sweater over a dress can completely change the style and vibe of the original piece.
This outfit happened on accident back in November, when we were seeing LOW 20s temperatures in Michigan. Yes, low 20s in the November…no thank you. I knew I wanted to be comfortable at work all day but still look somewhat presentable, so I layered a long sleeve tunic underneath this oversized sweater, and then paired it with faux leather leggings. My pair is last’s year version from LOFT, and they have a thin fleece lining (which makes them quite warm). I’m not 100% sure, but I think this year’s pair (linked here) is almost exactly the same. They are definitely low on sizes so here are a few other affordable options (one) (two) (three).

This is so cute lady, I love the tee under the sweater!!

Thank you – I’m wondering why I’ve never thought of it before haha
I’m literally wearing the same sweater in grey! It’s one of my favourite purchases this year – so cozy and keeps its shape so well! I’ll have to try layering it on a really cold day!
