Hi friends, as promised today’s post is about all things Athleta and their upcoming Friends + Family sale (it runs this Thursday, April 7 through Monday, April 11)
Friends + Family is a bi-annual sale that offers a 20% discount off of Athleta’s products. If you’ve been following me for a while you know just how big of an Athleta fan I am, and this is my 3rd (or 4th) year collaborating with my local store through try on’s, blog posts, giveaways and events.
It’s important to me that I align with a brand if I’m going to be working with them, so let me tell you about some of the things I love about Athleta.
They’re a B corp, I support their sustainability initiatives, and align with their core values. They empower, support and advocate for women + girls, they have inclusive sizing, some of their products use recycled materials, they show diversity in their models and advertisements and their products are awesome and LAST!
In addition, their plus sizing was actually designed on plus size models instead of expanding on a size 4. Because of this, the feedback on the plus sizing has been good!
Finally, Athleta does have a one workout guarantee, so if you try out a piece and it doesn’t work for you, you can wash it and bring it back to them!
So, let’s dive in.
Elation 7/8 – personally I love the elation 7/8 because I’m short with a short torso but if you’re not, everyone else loves the Ultra High Rise. I wear these for everything even though you probably aren’t supposed to. But I love them best for yoga, lifting and day to day life.
Elation Train 7/8 Tight – better for higher impact, the elation we love in a different finish which means less inner thigh pilling (win!) These are better for running and circuit classes but I wear them lifting and spinning too!
Ultimate Tight II – they redid the Ultimate tights and they are SO MUCH BETTER. I shared about last year’s pair that the thighs were tight but waist fell down and that is not the case anymore. I will be adding this new Ultimate pair to the collection this year (and selling last year’s pair on Poshmark). Excited to wear these for all of the activities.
Salutation Stash Pocket II Tight – these are not a personal favorite of mine BUT I know plenty of women who this is their favorite tight. There’s nothing wrong with them for me, I just prefer the Elation 🙂
(A quick note on my favorite winter tights – Peak Hybrid and Rainier Reflective )
Solace Bra – (available A-C, D-DD+) – this is my personal favorite for all types of activities. The strappy back allows room for my lats and the powervita fabric of the bra is so soft.
Ultimate Bra – (available A-C, D-DD+) – great for HIGH impact activities. Really keeps you secure.
Exhale Bra (available A-C, D-DD+) – the nice feature of the exhale bra is the straight straps (no racerback). if you’re not a fan of racerbacks or things digging into your traps, this is the bra for you. She definitely stays put. I have run, biked, walked and lifted in this bra.
Advance Bra – (available B-G) – this one goes specifically by cup size and is designed for great support for larger busts! *has a clasp back.
Conscious Cut Out Crop (comes in sizes A-C, D-DD+) and the forever favorite Regular Conscious Crop (I size up to a medium in this one!) my friends and I love these for running, walking and lifting!
Aurora Crop Rib – I love the crop to pair with looser shorts (like the Mesh Racer Run) or to tuck into skirts to wear out and about. Can be worn braless for LOW impact activities – or if you are not well endowed, I will put other sports bra pads in and wear it to lift, etc.
Elation V Neck Crop – I have and love! I actually really like to wear this as a bra/crop combo under sweatshirts or loose long sleeve tees. I’ll pair with looser shorts for the summer.
Shanti Printed Tank – the Shanti is a classic scoop neck tank. Easy to wear, super comfortable and works for all kinds of workouts!
Renew Racerback Tank – this is a tank that I think looks nice enough that you could layer under a jacket or blazer (like I did here) and get away with it for work! I have a size small and love the high neck and cut of this one.
Aurora Rib Full Length – But I love the full length to lift in because it covers my whole abdomen and stays in place!
Horizon Tank – I like the rib detail and the more unique straps – so far I’ve worn this to lift and bike in – it does need a bra underneath! I am wearing the XS here and it’s pretty darn tight, so I maybe should’ve stayed true to size with the small.
Embody Twist Front Top – I don’t usually purchase tees at Athleta but I can’t get enough of this color and I liked that it was an elevated basic. Wearing a small in the photo below!
Trekkie Convertible Hike Pant – look, I’m just as shocked as you are that I love a convertible cargo pant..but I do, okay? The shorts are ACTUALLY CUTE when you zip the pants off. I can promise you won’t catch me in the capris though, a bit too 1999 for me.
Elation Flare Pant – I’m going to keep it real – these take me back to the era of Victoria’s Secret PINK brand yoga bands with the flared leg and foldover waistband…just done 10000% better. It’s the same amazing fit and feel of the elation tight, just in a pant. Wearing a small.
Vienna Cargo Pant – the chicest, lightest weight cargo pants you’ll ever meet. I have the blush color and love them so much I styled them 3 ways for you last week. read it here. I sized up one size 🙂
Farallon Jogger – for when you want to leave your house feeling cozy in massive sweats, but these look a heck of a lot better. Easy to wear, insanely comfy!
***insert wear to work starting here***
Nolita Wide Leg – I actually own the Venice Wide Leg but it’s currently sold out. But Athleta does a mean wide leg pant. They don’t wrinkle, they feel amazing on and they look damn good!
Trekkie North – love the blue and black lace overlay pair with the matching jacket (below!) Jacket is the Sightseer Lace Jacket (generously sized, def size down)
Sweet Bay Henley Sweater – Again, definitely shocked at how much I liked this but I’m a big fan and think it’s a great weight of sweater
Hayes Pleated Tank – simple in the front, drama in the back. Could easily work with a solid colored pant for work, or with jeans on the weekend. Generously sized.
Urbanite Top – a button down shirt that is lightweight, with stretch and made to be comfortable. What more could you ask for?
Urbanite Tank – the sleeveless version of the aforementioned shirt 🙂
I have not yet had the chance to try on but am very interested in the:
Mesh Racer Run 4 in – love these for lifting in the summer, walking the dog, working from home and hanging out. Also brand new – available in a HIGH RISE this year – I have not yet tried but you know I will have to. I can wear both XS and Small in these – and have pairs in both, just depends how much room you want.
Ultimate Stash Pocket 7in Bike Short – my absolute favorite to run in all spring/summer. They’re amazing. They stay in place. I wore my magenta pair easily 2-3x per week last summer. Long enough to lift, run, walk, hike, bike and more in. I wear a size small!
Run with it 14in skort – To be fair, I pretty much alternated between the bike shorts and this skort all last summer. And then paired them with either a conscious crop or aurora crop rib. It’s the perfect walking the dog, running errands or weekend casual item for the summer.
On Instagram stories I am sharing a try on of some of these pieces, as well as I have a highlight on my profile with previous try ons and almost everything I’ve mentioned here. In addition you can check out semi recent Athleta blogs. (BLOG 1 /// BLOG 2 )
Have a great day and hit me with your questions!
