Hi and welcome back to Advice from a Stylist, I’m Maddy, your virtual personal stylist. And this is my weekly series where I give you tips and tricks and teach you what you need to know to create a versatile and functional closet that you actually love and wear, because that is our goal.
A common question I receive is: what shoes do I wear?
I don’t want to wear sandals, I don’t want to wear boots or heels, what do I wear? What do I do for jeans, skirts, dresses?
I often get asked about what shoes to wear other than sandals, boots or heels –
Great question.
You have options.
First up, my personal favorite – a sneaker that is not a workout shoe. This could be a platform Converse, pair of Vans, Nikes, (Vejas, etc). There are so many fun sneakers out there – pair them with your skirts, dresses, shorts, jeans, wide leg pants, etc.
Next, a mule! This can be heeled, flat, whatever. I love a mule because they don’t rub on my blister prone heels! It functions very similar to a flat and works well with the items listed above. Great for when weather is nice but you don’t necessarily want an open toe.
Then we have flats – so many options, colorful, neutral, Platform, embellished, square toe, pointed toe, etc.
And loafers (I love a loafer). The pair I’m showing here is more sleek but there are chunky loafers, lug sole and even heeled.
Lastly, honorable mention goes to clogs! I don’t have any to show because they aren’t my style but they look great on others.
