As I’m working on my journey of being a better consumer and buying less, I’m realizing that I don’t need to buy new items for vacations or events. Vacations are an easy excuse to buy new items, but chances are you probably
1.) already own plenty of vacation items
OR
2.) will buy new then end up wearing your same old favorites the entire time
Since I’ve already built up a solid wardrobe, I challenged myself to pack for our upcoming Mexico trip with what is already in my closet. I put a poll up on Instagram stories last week to see if there was any interest in me writing this post, and the answer was a resounding YES, so here we are…packing for vacation with what I already own!
I will say, the suitcase (HOW CUTE?!) is a new addition. I used a giftcard from Christmas to get this cutie from TJ Maxx. (It’s Calpak). I can’t wait to use it! [Shop more Calpak here] PS. I’m hoping to fit all these goodies into my suitcase…I haven’t actually tried yet but I promise to update!
Now, we are heading to an all-inclusive resort with friends, but our situation is different than your typical beach vacation. We will be there for 5 days and 5 nights, but the twist? It’s actually a music festival at a resort. So there will be music throughout the day + night on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I include this because it did switch up my packing a bit. I did try to bring 4-5 “nicer” outfits if we want to look good for dinner, but the majority of my time will be spent in swimsuits + shorts I’m pretty sure.
The photo above includes the main items I’m packing, I didn’t both including pajamas, workout clothes, or my bikinis, but you get the idea.
Outerwear:
Denim jacket (I’ll also wear this on the plane) PS. this is my all time favorite and breaks in SO nicely. Great price, highly recommend 🙂
Yellow floral kimono (planning to have this double as a cover up, or over a bodycon dress for the shows in the evening)
Dresses + Skirts:
H&M Black bodycon (easy to layer, nice and stretchy)
Magenta + Orange colorblock (from 2016, it’s a bit short for real life, so it’s perfect for the beach)
Black Eyelet Abercrombie Dress (from 2017)
Sequin Mesh Star + Moon Tunic (I’ve worn this to other festivals layered over a bikini or bodysuit)
Red Floral Linen Dress
Pink Wrap Midi Skirt
Shorts:
AGOLDE Parker Vintage Short – currently ON SALE @ Shopbop. Use the code SPRING to save 🙂
Lightweight Gray Romper from Lou & Grey
Tops:
Mustard Sweater Tank (last seen on vacation here!)
Love Unites Graphic Tank
Polka Dot Crop Top
Favorite Black Tank
Cropped Covet Leisure Hoodie
Tie Dye Thermal
Swim:
Palm print one piece (Nordstrom rack last year)
Rainbow one piece (Forever 21 last year)

H&M Rust Printed Bikini
Black Bottom from Express
Aerie Bikini Top
Sandals:

Madewell Boardwalk Sandal (all Madewell sandals on sale @ Shopbop currently – use code SPRING)
Target “See Ya” Sandal
Black Heeled Sandal
Accessories:
Packable Boater Hat
Neon Fanny Pack

If you are looking to fill the holes in your wardrobe (or just want to get the best denim shorts (these!) then make sure to check out the Shopbop sale currently going on. It’s a buy more, save more sale and you can shop it here!
Otherwise, there’s no shame in re-wearing your vacation outfits. Heck, there’s no shame in EVER re-wearing an outfit. Here’s me, last summer, rocking the shorts, swimsuit and hat mentioned above, and guess what? I’ll probably wear the exact outfit again in Mexico.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope to update this post after our trip with what I ACTUALLY wore while we were gone. Anyone else packing for a warm weather vacation soon? Let me know in the comments below!
xo, Maddy
